The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will not be intimidated by overzealous politicians to undermine the free and fair conduct of the 2019 general elections.
Speaking on Monday at a parley with political parties organized by the Benue State Police Command in Makurdi, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Benue State, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda reiterated the Commission’s resolve to work closely with security agencies to ensure a free, fair and credible election.
Dr. Yilwatda promised that the electoral body would avail all the political parties and their respective candidates vying for elective offices a level playing field during the exercise.
Earlier in his speech, the Benue State Police Commissioner, Mr. Ene Okon warned that the Police would not hesitate to arrest any politician caught encouraging thuggery and violence during the electioneering period.
