The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday presented a Certificate of Return to the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mohammed Mattawale as Governor-elect of Zamfara State.
The National Commissioner, Amina Zakari who made the presentation in Abuja during the formal presentation of the certificates also issued six members of the House of Representatives and three Senators elected under the PDP platform their certificates.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Commission, Mahmoud Yakubu urged political parties to adhere strictly to internal democracy which serves as a guiding principle, particularly in the conduct of primaries.
In his acceptance speech, Mattawale thanked the Commission for obeying the court order and asked the people of Zamfara State to see the Supreme Court’s verdict as the will of God.
The Governor-elect promised to run an all-inclusive government in the state just as he asked for cooperation from well-meaning indigenes of the state to enable him move the state forward.
