Despite a court order directing that the status quo be maintained, the Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday elected its new executives with Mr. Deji Doherty as Chairman.

Others elected were Showole Jubril  (State Party Vice-Chairman), Amode Akeem (Organizing Secretary),  Adeniyi Rotimi (Assistant Organizing Secretary), Muyideen Tejumade (Legal  Adviser) and Olalekan Akeem (Assistant Legal Adviser).

Others were Olayinka Dada (Assistant Secretary), Kolawole Mike (Party Chairman, Apapa Local Government Area) and Akojemu Florence (Party Chairman, Badagry Local Government Area).

The election, which was organized by a special election committee set up by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party was supervised by Senator Ben Obi and other chieftains of the party.

Speaking shortly after the elections, Senator Obi said out of the 68 delegates approved by the NWC, only 45 voted during the election held at a hotel in the Maryland area of Lagos.

A Lagos State High Court had on Tuesday restrained the NWC of the party from conducting the election on several grounds, including that the existing state executive members led by Dr. Dominic Adegbola were not carried along.

Justice T.A.O. Oyekan-Abdullai ordered the parties to maintain the status quo until November 18 when the motion on notice would be argued.
