A former Golden Eaglets of Nigeria striker, Philip Osondu has died in Belgium at the age of 48.
The former El-Kanemi of Maiduguri playmaker was part of the Eaglets team which took part in the U-16 World Cup hosted by Canada in 1987.
Reports say the diminutive player died on arrival at a Belgian hospital he took himself to for treatment on Thursday after observing some abnormal physiology of his body system.
Born in Aba, Abia State, Osondu was regarded as one of the greatest talents in Nigerian football. He moved to Europe at an early age to ply his trade with Belgian League giants, Anderlecht.
