Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki has denied reports that he has decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party. His spokesman, Bamikole Omishore says Saraki’s appearance at the PDP Senate Caucus meeting yesterday was purely ceremonial.
Apparently, his attendance of that meeting was what gave justification to the reports which claimed the Senate President had decamped to PDP.
In a signed statement today, Omishore stated that his boss attended the meeting in his official capacity as the Senate President and Chairman, National Assembly. He said: “He attended the end of session event of the PDP caucus yesterday evening and spent only 30 minutes before leaving the members to continue with the event.
“The Senate President is not prepared to leave a party he helped midwife and worked for its victory in the 2015 elections. The Senate President would like to assure every Nigerian that he is committed to the APC-led government and appreciates the confidence reposed in him and the APC during the 2015 General Elections.”
