The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has granted a waiver to the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi to allow him contest the governorship ticket of the party slated for July 22, 2020.
The approval was contained in a letter received by the Deputy Governor on July 2, 2020 which was signed by both the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and its National Secretary, Senator Umaru Ibrahim Tsauri.
The National Working Committee found that the Deputy Governor has satisfied the relevant provisions of the party’s constitution particularly section 50(5)(b) (as amended in 2017) for granting of waiver.
Ajayi had on June 21, quit the APC following his chilly relationship with the Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu. Ajayi subsequently picked the membership card of the PDP.
