The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled May 16 and May 23, 2026, for its presidential and governorship primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, disclosed that the timetable, signed by National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu, sets nomination and expression of interest fees at N100 million for presidential aspirants and N50 million for governorship hopefuls. Senate aspirants will pay N20 million, while House of Representatives candidates will pay N10 million.
According to the schedule, the sale of forms will run from April 25 to May 2 at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, with submission closing on May 4. Screening for presidential aspirants is slated for May 9, while other categories will be screened between May 6 and May 8, with additional screenings on May 12 and 13.
Primary elections for legislative positions are fixed for May 18 (House of Representatives), May 20 (Senate), and May 21 (State Houses of Assembly). State assembly aspirants are to pay N6 million for forms.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, and governorship and state assembly polls for February 6, 2027. It also fixed April 23 to May 30, 2026, for party primaries nationwide.
APC said female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities will receive concessions, paying only for expression of interest forms and 50 per cent of nomination fees. The party reaffirmed its commitment to transparent and credible primaries.
