The All Progressives Congress has rescheduled its presidential primary election to May 23, 2026, as part of a revised timetable for the 2027 general elections.
The adjustment was announced following a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee in Abuja, where key dates for its primary elections and internal processes were reviewed.
Under the updated schedule, governorship primaries will now hold on May 21, while other primaries will be conducted in phases, beginning with the House of Representatives, followed by the Senate and State Houses of Assembly.
The revision also affects screening and appeals processes for aspirants, which have been realigned to fit within the new timetable and in compliance with electoral guidelines.
Party officials said the changes were necessary to ensure a smoother process, reduce disputes, and align with the timetable set by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2027 elections.
