President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerian children and their families that the Federal Government remains committed to their safety, welfare and future, as the country marked the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
In a message released on Wednesday, Tinubu celebrated Nigerian children across different backgrounds, including those excelling academically, learning vocational skills, living with disabilities and those facing difficult circumstances but remaining hopeful.
The President said this year’s Children’s Day theme, “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,” highlights the need to create equal opportunities for all children.
Tinubu expressed concern over children and teachers abducted in parts of Oyo and Borno states, assuring affected families that the government had not abandoned them.
“I have directed all relevant security agencies to sustain and intensify coordinated rescue operations for abducted children and other vulnerable citizens across the country,” he said.
The President also announced plans to strengthen school protection measures in vulnerable communities through improved security coordination, early warning systems and deeper implementation of the Safe Schools framework.
According to him, the government will also provide medical care, counselling, education and reintegration support for children rescued from abduction, violence and displacement.
Tinubu urged parents, teachers, community leaders and other stakeholders to work closely with security agencies to safeguard children and prevent attacks on schools and communities.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in education, healthcare, nutrition, social protection and safer communities to ensure every Nigerian child can grow and thrive without fear.
