Brazil, Paraguay and Morocco secured places in the Round of 16 after dramatic victories in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32.

Five-time champions Brazil came from behind to defeat Japan 2-1. Kaishu Sano put Japan ahead before Casemiro levelled for Brazil in the second half. Substitute Gabriel Martinelli then struck a stoppage-time winner to complete the comeback and send Brazil through.

Paraguay produced one of the biggest upsets of the tournament by eliminating four-time world champions Germany. After a 1-1 draw following extra time, the South Americans held their nerve to win 4-3 on penalties and book their place in the last 16.

Morocco also advanced after edging the Netherlands 3-2 in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw. The Atlas Lions equalised late in the match before goalkeeper Yassine Bounou emerged as the hero with a decisive save in the shootout.

The victories see Brazil, Paraguay and Morocco join the growing list of teams through to the Round of 16 as the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup gathers momentum.
