The FIFA World Cup Round of 32 continued with France, Norway and hosts Mexico securing places in the Round of 16 after impressive victories in their knockout fixtures.

Norway defeated Ivory Coast 2-1 to book their place in the next round after a hard-fought contest, while France produced one of the standout performances of the knockout stage, beating Sweden 3-0 to progress comfortably.

Hosts Mexico delighted their home fans with a 2-0 victory over Ecuador to end a 40-year wait for a World Cup knockout-stage win. Julián Quiñones and Raúl Jiménez scored the goals that sent El Tri into the last 16, while Ecuador’s hopes were further dented by the late dismissal of defender Piero Hincapié.

The Round of 32 continues today with three more fixtures as England take on DR Congo, Belgium face Senegal, and the United States battle Bosnia and Herzegovina for the remaining places in the Round of 16.
