Chairman of Capital Oil and one of the contestants in Monday’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primary in Anambra State, Chief Ifeanyi Patrick Uba has disputed the election which saw the emergence of Oseloka Henry Obaze as the party’s flag bearer.
Shortly after the Chief Returning Officer for the exercise and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi announced the results, Uba, who was given the opportunity to speak as contestant, expressed his disappointment over the late arrival of the delegates list.
Uba said whereas the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) made their delegates list available to all contestants four weeks before their primaries, the PDP only released theirs two days to the elections making it difficult for the contestants to effectively campaign.
Gov. Umahi declared Obaze, a former Secretary to the Anambra State Government as winner of the elections having polled 672 out of the 958 accredited delegates while his closest rival, Prof. Alexander Obiogbolu got 190 votes.
Chief Uba polled 94 votes, 2 votes were declared invalid while the trio of John Okechukwu Emeka, Ofodike Akiolisa and former Minister of State for Transportation, Senator Stella Adaeze Oduah earlier withdrew from the race.
