President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked Brigadier-General Paul Tarela Boroh (rtd) as the Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme over allegations of corruption.

A statement released by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said the President also approved the appointment of Professor Charles Quaker Dokubo as Boroh’s replacement.

According to the statement, the President also directed the National Security Adviser (NSA) to carry out a full investigation into the activities of the Amnesty Programme from 2015 till date.

The matters to be probed as revealed by the statement include “allegations of financial impropriety and other acts that are allegedly detrimental to the objectives of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.”

Dokubo who is currently the Director of Research and Studies at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) has been directed to take over from Boroh with immediate effect.

An indigene of Abonema, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Professor Dokubo holds a Ph.D degree in Strategic Studies from the University of Bradford in United Kingdom.
