Former leaders of militant organizations under the aegis of the Niger Delta Reformed Ex-Agitators Association (NDREA) have charged the new Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger Delta and Co-ordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Prof. Charles Dokubo to sanitize the Amnesty Office or face the same disgraceful consequences that befell his predecessor, Gen. Paul Boroh (rtd).

The ex-militant leaders drawn from the nine states of the Niger Delta region also commended President Buhari for appointing Prof. Dokubo but warned the amnesty boss to beware of the bad eggs that misled his predecessor and created hitches for the seamless implementation of the mandate of the PAP.

In a statement issued via e-mail and signed by its National President, Ex-militant General Ebiowe Ayado, the NDREA expressed confidence in the ability of Prof. Dokubo to deploy his wealth of experience to effectively pilot the affairs of the Amnesty Office.

“The group is very confident that Prof. Charles Dokubo will effectively deploy his robust wealth of experience to pilot the affairs of the presidential amnesty programme to greater heights.

“However, we hereby call on him to beware of the bad eggs in the presidential amnesty office that misled his predecessor and created impediments to the smooth and effective implementation of the mandate of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

“He should weed out the bad eggs and inject fresh blood into the programme and engage very patriotic and committed persons as his aides to enable him actualize his mandate.

“He should do away with all the aides that misled the former SA, Paul Boroh and appoint only very honest and dedicated aides to help him succeed in his new assignment.

“He should never recycle or engage all those who have questions bothering on corruption and other illegalities to answer under his predecessor.

“It is our very strong opinion that for the new special adviser and Co-ordinator of the presidential amnesty programme to succeed, he must sanitize the office and bring in some critical stakeholders to help him in the discharge of his duties.”

“We are also using this medium to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for the sustenance and continuation of the presidential amnesty programme as his kind gesture has entrenched the hitherto fragile peace in the Niger Delta region,” the statement read.
