Former Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole may apparently just be waiting in the wings to become the next National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with a majority of the governors elected under the platform of the party backing him.
In addition, President Muhammadu Buhari did not object to the proposal brought forward by Owelle Okorocha, the Imo State governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, of their interest in Oshiomhole when the governors met with him at the Aso Rock Villa on Tuesday night.
Also present at the meeting were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha and Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.
Seventeen of the APC governors were in attendance while two were represented by their deputies.
Seven governors namely Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), Ibrahim Gaidam (Yobe), Mohammed Abubakar (Bauchi), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa) and Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto) were absent.
