
The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai has warned officers and men of the Nigerian Army to stay away from politics or politically-related activities.
He issued the warning on Tuesday through a statement released by the Army spokesperson, Brigadier General Sani Usman.
“This is to inform the general public that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Nigerian Army, has received information that some individuals have been approaching some officers and soldiers for undisclosed political reasons. On the basis of that, he has warned such persons to desist from these acts,” the statement said.
“Any officer or soldier of the Nigerian Army found to be hobnobbing with such elements or engaging in unprofessional conduct such as politicking would have himself or herself to blame,” it added.
The Army Chief went further to advice any military personnel interested in politics to resign from his commission or apply for voluntary discharge as the case may be.
