American rap artist and Hollywood actor, DMX was on Thursday arrested after federal prosecutors accused him of concealing millions of dollars of income from the government and evading up to $1.7 million in taxes from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the process.

This latest arrest adds to the list of woes of the 46-year-old “Cradle To The Grave” actor who was born Earl Simmons and scheduled to be arraigned before a Manhattan Court on Friday.

“While earning millions from hits like “X Gon’ Give It To Ya”, DMX didn’t give any of it to the IRS,” said Joon Kim, the acting U.S. Attorney for the Sourthern New York District in a Twitter Post.

According to the indictment papers, Simmons was charged with 14 counts  including tax evasion, evasion of assessment of income tax liability, corruptly trying to obstruct administration of IRS Laws and the failure to file a US individual income tax return, all these he achieved by setting up cash accounts in others’ names, paying personal expenses largely in cash and filing a false bankruptcy affidavit.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, if convicted, DMX, whose lawyer, Murray Richman says the performer plans to enter a not guilty plea during his arraignment on Friday, faces a maximum of 44 years in prison on each of the charges.
