The candidate of the Social Democratic Party in last Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore has reportedly agreed to work with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the re-run polls scheduled to hold on Thursday.

Following Wednesday’s visit of a high-powered APC delegation led by its National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, reports said Omisore had agreed to ensure the success of the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola.

The delegation also included Governors Abiola Ajumobi of Oyo State, Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa and Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Ekiti State governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Lassun and Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.

Saturday’s election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which ordered the supplementary election in seven polling units in four local governments areas – Osogbo, Orolu, Ife North and Ife South.

There are 3, 498 registered voters in the polling units where the elections were cancelled due to various reasons, including hijacking of election materials, absconding of a presiding officer, disruption of the election process by hoodlums among others.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke has a marginal 353 vote advantage going into the re-run. Omisore, who finished third in the first elections on Monday received Senate President, Bukola Saraki who came to lobby him to support the PDP.

Omisore, who decamped from the PDP for the SDP over allegations that the PDP ticket was skewed in favour of Adeleke however declined to give Saraki his commitment.

However, shortly after his meeting with the APC team, Omisore tweeted under a photograph of himself with Fayemi and Agunloye: “With @OfficialAPCNg Ekiti state governor elect @kfayemi during his visit today. #goodgovernanceinosunstate #OsunDecides2018”.

It was also gathered that Omisore whose father is the traditional ruler of Olode in Ife South where the election will hold in unit 07 and 012 in Adereti village with 812 registered voters, joined the APC for a campaign on Tuesday.
