The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted Senator Hope Uzodinma as the party’s governorship candidate for Imo State.
The final decision to drop Uche Nwosu, the son- in-law to the Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha was reportedly taken during a meeting of the NWC held in Abuja on Wednesday.
The party has also concluded all arrangements to send Senator Uzodinma’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before November 2 , being the deadline for the submission of governorship candidates by all political parties.
Recall that the party leadership had summoned and asked Governor Okorocha to chose between his senatorial ambition and his desire to install Mr. Nwosu as his successor.
The governor was reported to have argued that he and Nwosu remained the best candidates for the governorship and senatorial seats, stressing that no other candidate of the party could win any election in the state without his backing.
