Erstwhile Governor of Akwa Ibom State and former Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio has lost his bid to be re-elected into the Senate. Meaning that he will no longer represent Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State.
Former Deputy Governor of the state, Chris Ekpenyong of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) won 136,373 votes while Akpabio, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 67, 487.
