The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared elections in Ogun East Senatorial District inconclusive.
The Returning Officer for the District, Prof. Chris Nwoka was about to declare the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Mustapha Olalekan the winner of the polls when chaos broke out in the hall.
At the conclusion of collation of results from the nine local government areas of the District, Olalekan polled a total of 84,929 votes, while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sosanwo Ayoola polled 82,457 votes.
Investigations by People & Power revealed that results were cancelled in Ward 10, Ajebandele in Ijebu East Local Government Area and the total number of voters in the ward exceeded the difference between the two leading parties.
It was gathered that the entire ward results were cancelled because the number of voters in one of the units exceeded the number of accredited voters.
