A Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, over a ₦33.8 billion fraud case linked to the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects.
The judgment was delivered by Justice James Omotosho following the conclusion of the trial instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Mamman, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari, was prosecuted on charges bordering on conspiracy, money laundering, and diversion of public funds allegedly meant for critical power infrastructure projects.
During the proceedings, the EFCC told the court that billions of naira were diverted through bureau de change operators and private accounts. The prosecution presented several witnesses and documentary evidence to support its claims.
The anti-graft agency called 17 witnesses and tendered multiple exhibits during the trial, while Mamman consistently denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty.
The court had earlier dismissed a no-case submission filed by the former minister, ruling that sufficient evidence existed for him to enter a defence.
The court has fixed Tuesday, May 12, 2026, for his sentencing.
