The Nigeria Democratic Congress has announced that aspirants seeking its presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections will pay ₦60 million for Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.

According to the party’s timetable released on Tuesday and signed by National Chairman Moses Zwughele and National Secretary Ikenna Enenweizu, presidential aspirants are expected to pay ₦20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and ₦40 million for the Nomination Form.

The party said the sale of Expression of Interest Forms will begin on May 13 and end on May 18, while screening of aspirants will hold between May 19 and May 21, 2026.

Nomination Forms will be sold from May 21 to May 23, with submission scheduled to close on May 25. Appeals arising from the screening process will be heard on May 25 and 26.

According to the timetable, primary elections for various offices will hold on May 27 and 28, while the presidential primary is scheduled for May 29 in Abuja.

Under the fee structure, governorship aspirants will pay ₦30 million, Senate aspirants ₦8 million, House of Representatives aspirants ₦6 million, and State House of Assembly aspirants ₦2.5 million.

The party also announced concessions for special categories, stating that female aspirants would pay 50 per cent of the fees, while persons living with disabilities would pay 25 per cent.

The NDC said it would adopt an open secret ballot system for all primaries to strengthen internal democracy and transparency.

The party, founded under the guidance of former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, has recently attracted notable opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 elections.

At its inaugural national convention held on May 9, 2026, the NDC formally zoned its presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria.
