President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally accepted the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election, pledging to consolidate ongoing reforms and deepen economic and infrastructure development across the country.

Speaking on Sunday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, the President said continuity was necessary to sustain progress made under his administration since 2023.

Tinubu thanked party leaders, governors, members of the National Assembly, and APC supporters for their confidence in his leadership, describing his nomination as both an honour and a renewed responsibility.

Reflecting on his administration’s achievements, the President highlighted reforms in education, power, infrastructure, oil and gas, and fiscal management. He noted that over N282 billion had been disbursed through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund to more than 1.5 million beneficiaries.

He also said his government had supplied 2.5 million electricity meters through the Presidential Metering Initiative and introduced a N4 trillion bond programme to settle legacy debts in the power sector.

On the economy, Tinubu defended the removal of fuel subsidy and exchange rate reforms, saying they had strengthened revenue generation, improved macroeconomic stability, and boosted investor confidence despite inflationary pressures caused by global geopolitical tensions.

The President acknowledged ongoing economic hardship and insecurity in parts of the country but assured Nigerians that his administration was intensifying efforts to improve security through investments in intelligence, surveillance, and modern equipment.

Tinubu also called on the National Assembly to amend the constitution to allow the creation of state police, describing it as a national emergency.

He urged Nigerians to remain united regardless of political or ethnic differences, while calling on voters to support the APC’s vision in the 2027 election.

“With another four years of disciplined focus and national cooperation, we will firmly place Nigeria on an irreversible path of economic expansion, industrialisation, energy security, infrastructure development, food sufficiency, and democratic consolidation,” he said.

The President pledged to build a more inclusive government and reaffirmed his commitment to national development, security, and economic growth.
