The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has selected Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, a private sector executive, as the running mate to its governorship candidate, Olamilekan Adeola, ahead of the next state election.
Her nomination was confirmed during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday and attended by Governor Dapo Abiodun, party leaders, and elders. The decision followed the party’s zoning arrangement, which reserved the deputy governorship slot for Ogun East, where Adegunwa-Balogun hails from Ososa, Ijebu.
At 51, Adegunwa-Balogun brings over three decades of experience in corporate leadership, finance, and operational management. She currently serves as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director for Finance and Information Technology at Rite Foods Limited, where she has been credited with contributing to the company’s significant expansion and valuation growth.
She holds degrees in Computer Science from the University of Lagos and an MBA in Finance from Bayes Business School, London. She is also a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and has completed executive programmes at Harvard Business School and The Wharton School.
Party leaders described her selection as the outcome of extensive consultations. Governor Abiodun said she emerged from among several qualified aspirants, while Adeola said she would add value to the ticket and the party’s development agenda for Ogun State.
The Ogun APC chairman noted that her professional background, leadership record, and commitment to economic development made her a strong fit for the position.
