The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party , Senator Walid Jibrin says Wednesday’s defection of Senator Godswill Akpabio was the opposition party’s sympathy donation to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
During a news briefing in his office in Kaduna on Wednesday, Jibrin said the recent defections across parties were democratic, adding that the PDP had many senators who would take over Akpabio’s role in the senate when called upon to do so by the senate caucus of the party.
Jibrin maintained that the PDP had recorded some gains in the recent past and as such would not lose any sleep over the defection of Akpabio, who was until his defection, the Senate Minority Leader.
He added that considering the recent action taken by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to preserve democracy by sacking the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the PDP was sympathetic and happy to donate Akpabio to the APC with great pleasure.
