The flag bearer of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the forthcoming September 22 governorship election in Osun State, Chief Moshood Adeoti on Thursday said the rising profile of his party has become a nightmare for the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.
According to a press statement signed by Mr. Kayode Agbaje, the Director of Media and Publicity of his campaign organization, Adeoti also maintained that contrary to rumours emanating from some quarters, he never participated in the July 20 governorship primary of the APC.
“Contrary to a rumour emanating from some quarters in Osun State that the current governorship candidate of the ADP, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti actually participated in the APC primary election, the Moshood Adeoti Campaign Organization (MACO) wishes to state that the rumor only exists in the imagination of its masterminds.
“We also want to put it on record that Alhaji Adeoti’s action of backing out of the APC governorship primaries was publicly made over 24 hours to the said primaries.
“The acclaimed APC governorship primary was a process that actually fell short of any democratic standard. In addition to this, Adeoti withdrew from primaries in order not to give undeserved credibility to a jaundiced process.
“Having critically observed which of the available political parties in the state upholds the basic democratic standards, the ADP was chosen among the lot and today, it has grown to become the nightmare of the ruling APC,” the statement said.
