President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday cautioned lawmakers at the National Assembly to behave themselves as the international community was watching their conduct.
The President gave the advice while addressing a joint session of the National Assembly where he presented the 2019 Budget proposal to the lawmakers.
While he was being heckled by some of the lawmakers as he read out the achievements of his administration, other lawmakers, believed to be members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were on their feet cheering and hailing him. It was a clear verbal war between Buhari’s supporters and loyalists and legislators who felt his government had failed Nigerians.
At a point, President Buhari was forced to remind the lawmakers that they were on live television and were being watched by the international community.
“The world is watching us. You can do better than this,” Buhari told them.
