Nigeria’s main opposition political party, the Peoples Democratic Party has said Wednesday’s budget presentation by President Muhammadu Buhari to a joint session of the National Assembly was full of false performance indices, claims of non-existent projects and fake promises.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday night in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan said Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were awaiting a crushing defeat in the 2019 general election.
Ologbondiyan, who doubles as the Director, Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council said it was wrong for anyone to say that the PDP lawmakers instigated the booing of the president during the budget presentation.
“As usual, Mr. President dwelt on fictitious figures, unrealistic projections and could not give a credible account of the performance of the 2018 budget unlike other annual budgets.
“Since he came into office, the budget has remained unimplemented due to sheer incompetence and humongous corruption in his presidency. No wonder he was booed by the lawmakers,” Ologbondiyan said.
