In a decisive move against drug-related activities, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended 85 individuals at a nightclub in Kano on Monday. The agency’s Commander in the state, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, revealed that the arrests were prompted by numerous complaints from the club’s host community about drug-related incidents within the establishment, which had allegedly transformed into a hub for illicit substances.
Among the detainees, 30 were identified as female suspects, while 55 were males. Idris-Ahmad highlighted the agency’s success in capturing all the suspects, even those who attempted to evade arrest by hiding in deep freezers or scaling over the fence.
“This operation marks a significant victory for the NDLEA in its relentless battle against drug-related activities within Kano state,” declared Idris-Ahmad. He emphasized the severe consequences of drug abuse and trafficking, not only for individuals but for society at large.
The raid on the nightclub serves as a clear message that the NDLEA remains committed to curbing drug-related offenses and protecting communities from the devastating impact of substance abuse. The agency’s proactive measures continue to make strides in ensuring a safer environment for the citizens of Kano and upholding the rule of law.
