Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has expressed support for rotational presidency, insisting that the South should retain power ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Sunrise Daily, the governor said it would be unfair for any northerner to seek the presidency at this time, stressing the need for unity and balance in the country’s leadership.
Fintiri, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, said the South should be allowed to complete its eight-year tenure.
“It is the turn of the South. They should complete their term if we are serious about this country,” he said.
He also declared support for President Bola Tinubu, describing his policies as steps toward national recovery.
Commenting on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Fintiri said their relationship remains cordial despite political differences.
According to him, respecting power rotation is key to maintaining political stability and strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
