Dino Melaye, the controversial Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate has said that the ongoing moves by the electorates in his constituency to recall him from the Senate will not come to fruition.
Senator Melaye stated this in Kabba, Kogi State while addressing his supporters, saying that his enormous contributions and achievements in the Senate has earned him tremendous support from his constituency.
The senator further alleged that the moves to recall him were hatched by the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello whom he accused of releasing N200 million to each of the seven local government areas in his constituency to facilitate the plan.
“Quote me anywhere, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has released N200 million to each of the seven local government areas of my senatorial district to facilitate my recall from the Senate,” Melaye said.
He further revealed that about 30 of his supporters who refused to be part of the scheme to recall him were arrested on the order of the governor.
It would be recalled that electorates in the affected local governments that make up Kogi East Senatorial District had on Saturday, stormed polling units with photocopies of their voters’ cards to endorse the request for the recall of the embattled senator.
