The South African Parliament on Monday said it would secretly conduct a motion of no-confidence on the country’s embattled President, Jacob Zuma.
The revelation was made by Baleka Mbete, the Speaker of Parliament and National Chairman of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) during a news conference.
Mbete said the decision for the motion to be made secret was to ensure that the outcome of the important vote brought by opposition parties is credible.
Zizi Kodwa, the ANC’s spokesman said the party was not surprised about the Speaker’s move.
