Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz Malami, are facing new terrorism-linked firearms charges following an amendment to the case against them.
The Federal Government filed an amended five-count charge before a Federal High Court in Abuja, focusing on alleged illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, alongside terrorism-related offences.
Prosecutors allege that the defendants were in possession of a firearm, live cartridges, and expended ammunition without valid licences, an act said to contravene provisions of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, and the Firearms Act.
During proceedings, the previous charge was withdrawn and replaced with the amended version, with both defendants pleading not guilty to all counts.
Following the plea, Kehinde requested the court to set a date for trial.
In response, defence counsel asked the court to permit the defendants to remain on the bail previously granted.
