Striking lecturers in Nigeria under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have agreed to consider the Federal Government’s offer to suspend their ongoing strike.

The agreement is coming after their meeting with the government’s delegation. The meeting started at about 1:30 pm on Thursday and ended at 2:15 am on Friday.

The ASUU leadership however told newsmen after the meeting that although it has considered the proposal presented by the government, it would get back to the government in a week after consulting with its members across the nation.

The National President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi while briefing newsmen said: “Now we have some concrete proposal that we will take back to our members for consideration.”

On its part, the government delegation led by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu stated that they addressed ASUU’s demands at the meeting and were waiting for them to report back to them after consulting and deliberating with their members.
