The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has worsened as a building used as secretariat by a faction of the party in the state was demolished by the state government on Tuesday morning.
The APC in Kaduna State has three different factions although the one backed by Governor Nasir El-Rufai is fully recognized by the party’s national leadership.
The demolished one-storey building which allegedly belonged to the Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi faction of the party located at Sambo Road was brought down by bulldozers in the presence of armoured tanks and heavily armed security operatives.
Senator Hunkuyi, who had vowed to work against the re-election bid of Governor El-Rufai took to his Twitter handle to confirm the demolition which he showed with short videos of the incident.
“In the early hours of today, the @GovKaduna Mallam @elrufai personally drove a bulldozer accompanied by armoured tanks to destroy my house at 11B Sambo Road. This is a new low and fighting dirty with such low level of pettiness, is indeed unprecedented in Kaduna State,” Senator Hunkuyi tweeted.
On Thursday last week, the factional ‘APC Akida’ and the ‘Restoration APC’ unveiled the office, saying that they had to stay away from the party’s headquarters located along Ali Akilu Road to avoid the activities of political thugs.
