Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with his ministry as it is currently constrained.

Fashola, who stated this on Wednesday while speaking with State House Correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting lamented the effects of the rainy season on his ministry’s effort to carry out civil works and maintain  roads.

He stated that during his first quarter tour, he identified 61 critical intervention spots across the country but did not get the required monetary support to carry out the interventions.

“First, I want to sincerely empathise with commuters using the roads at the moment. We have seen what is happening on a global scale. We had made some plans to forestall these kinds of things.

“We identified 61 critical intervention spots across the country following my tour in the first quarter but we did not get the budgetary support to make that intervention. So we are constrained,” Fashola said.

He assured Nigerians that the ministry’s contractors have been notified of the availability of funds which cannot be spent until it is appropriated as according to him, in the current administration, which came into power with a commitment to end impunity, everything must be done according to due process and under the provisions of the law.
