The Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has recanted on its threat to stop the conduct of the November 18 governorship elections in Anambra State.

The decision to withdraw the threat was reportedly reached after a meeting between Ala-Igbo International Foundation, a non-government organization and Kanu held in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Speaking shortly after the exhaustive meeting, leader of the foundation, Professor Uzodinma Nwala said although deliberations were still ongoing, IPOB had assured Igbo leaders that it would not disrupt the elections.

Prof. Uzodinma therefore urged all eligible voters to go out on that day and exercise their franchise without fear of molestation.

IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu had threatened to ensure that elections would not hold in Anambra State until a referendum was conducted to determine the future of the South-East geo-political zone of Nigeria.
