Following his claims that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris collects over N10 million from police commissioners for posting, the Nigeria Police has declared Senator Isah Misau a deserter.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, the Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District absconded from the Nigeria Police as his letter of resignation from the force was allegedly forged.

In a statement released on Sunday, Moshood said the Senator, who was a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) abandoned his duties on September 24, 2010 after he was deployed to Niger State.

“Senator Isah Hamman Misau dubiously obtained a letter of resignation and deserted the Nigeria Police Force on 24th September, 2010 when he was redeployed to Niger State Command and he refused to report, consequent upon which he was queried in line with the Public Service Rules Section 030301 (b) (g) (m) and (o) and 030402 (a) (b) (c) (e), and (w), in addition to the previous queries and disciplinary process he was facing when he refused to proceed on Junior Command Course (JCC) 49/2008 at Staff College, Jos between 5th January, 2009 and 19th June, 2009,” the statement read.

“It is on record for the public and the media to verify that as AP No 57300, DSP Mohammed Isa Hamman was being wanted as a deserter, he contested and lost the Bauchi Central Senatorial election in 2011 in the general elections under Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) at the age of Thirty Seven (37),” it added.

Moshood further dismissed the claims made by Misau, arguing that the posting police commissioners was a routine administrative tool that ensures that officers render better services to the general public, adding that the allegations that the IGP remits N10 billion to the Federal Government monthly were false as the Police Force was not a revenue generating outfit.
