Former governor of Bayelsa State and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Timipre Sylva says the party was set to take over power in the state from those he described as rats.

Speaking at the State Secretariat of the party in Yenagoa, the state capital on Monday during the inauguration of the state executives, Sylva said the mission of the APC was to win the governorship election in the state and retain power at the centre.

He said: “Today is a day of victory , it is a new dawn for the APC, sometimes people tell you to manage people, to carry on with them but I always tell them no, if you have a rat in your house and somebody tell you to manage those rats in your house , is that possible? So this time what we did is to fumigate all the rats out of the house.

“Today we have a brand new APC people that we don’t have to manage, people with track record, people we can understand, people that have very clear picture of where they are going, people that will not go and chop money and sell their conscience, people that will not come here and work with us during the day time and go to the other side to collect some money.

“People whose ambition was only to make money and not for the party to have victory, today we are inaugurating the executive that is purpose driven.

“The purpose of APC now as a party for the masses is to take over government of Bayelsa and keep the government in Abuja, so that from here we can stand on the Olympia height and look into the rock in Abuja and this party have never been readier than it is, i can assure you, if you are in doubt just wait a little bit.”

Sylva disclosed that henceforth, the Bayelsa State chapter of the APC would witness series of activities which he promised would be part of measures to ensure that the APC  takes over the state.

“We will take over Bayelsa from rats that are in office today, rats that don’t have anything to show for all the years and all the monies of the people of Bayelsa State that they have collected. APC is ready now and than ever before,” he added .
