The Court of Appeal sitting in Sokoto on Wednesday dismissed the appeal challenging the judgment of the lower court which upheld the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State.

The court also asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept the primaries for the APC’s governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly seats.

The National Secretariat of the All Progressive Congress was also barred from replacing the names of those who won the primary elections of the party held on October 7, 2018.

Recall that a High Court in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital presided over by Justice Muhammad Bello Shinkafi had on January 25 affirmed that the APC in the state had conducted primary elections on October 3 and 7, 2018.

Also recall that the three judges of the Appeal Court in Sokoto had on Monday withdrawn from the case following allegations of bribery  to the tune of $3 million levelled against them.

Barrister Muhammad Nuhu, counsel to Senator Kabiru Marafa who is one of the respondents, had alleged that there was a post on social media, alleging that the judges had received the bribe from one Kabiru Kamba to compromise the outcome of the case.

Responding to the allegation, the presiding Judge, Justice Ahmed Belgore had said they had decided to disqualify themselves from the case over the grievous accusation in view of the present situation in the judiciary and the country.
