The Senate President Godswill Akpabio has unveiled the principal officers of the 10th Senate, highlighting their emergence through a consensus approach. This collaborative decision-making process reflects the commitment to unity and effective governance within the Senate.

The newly appointed officers include Senator Opeyemi Bamidele from Ekiti State, who assumes the position of Senate Leader. Senator Dave Umahi from Ebonyi State has been appointed as the Deputy Senate Leader. Senator Ali Ndume from Borno State takes on the role of Chief Whip, while Senator Lola Ashiru from Kwara State assumes the position of Deputy Chief Whip.

In addition to the majority principal officers, Akpabio also announced the names of the minority principal officers. Senator Simon Davou, representing Plateau North under the PDP, has been designated as the Minority Leader. Oyewunmi Olarere, representing Osun West under the PDP, will serve as the Deputy Minority Leader. Darlington Nwokeocha, representing Abia Central under the Labour Party, has been appointed as the Minority Whip. Rufai Hanga, representing Kano Central under the NNPP, will act as the Deputy Minority Whip.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has also disclosed the principal officers of the 10th House of Representatives. The House Majority Leader position will be held by Julius Ihonvbere, representing Edo under the APC. Halims Abdullahi, representing Kogi under the APC, has been appointed as the Deputy Majority Leader. Bello Kumo, representing Gombe under the APC, will serve as the Chief Whip, while Adewunmi Onanuga, representing Ogun under the APC, assumes the role of Deputy Chief Whip.

Abbas also read a letter from the Minority Caucus, outlining the names of the minority principal officers. Kingsley Chinda, representing the PDP, has been appointed as the Minority Leader. Aliyu Madaki, representing the NNPP, will serve as the Deputy Minority Leader. Ali Isah, representing the PDP, has been designated as the Minority Whip, and George Ozodinobi, representing the Labour Party, will act as the Deputy Minority Whip.
