Aston Villa ended a 44-year wait for a major European title after defeating SC Freiburg 3-0 in the UEFA Europa League final in Istanbul.

Goals from Youri Tielemans, Emiliano Buendía, and Morgan Rogers secured a dominant victory for Villa, who claimed their first Europa League title and first continental trophy since winning the European Cup in 1982.

Managed by Unai Emery, Villa controlled the final with aggressive pressing and clinical finishing. The triumph marked Emery’s fifth Europa League title, extending his record as the competition’s most successful manager.

Tielemans opened the scoring in the first half before Buendía doubled the lead just before halftime. Rogers added a third goal in the second half to seal the victory.

The win also secured Aston Villa qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League and marked another milestone in the club’s resurgence under Emery. Freiburg, meanwhile, were playing in the first European final in their history.
