Security measures at National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) warehouses across the country have been intensified after the pillaging of food storage facilities in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Sunday, allegedly by individuals believed to be involved in criminal activities.
Meanwhile, soldiers thwarted an attempted raid on a factory warehouse situated at the Idu Industrial District, Jabi, Abuja, on Sunday morning, leading to the apprehension of five assailants.
The factory in question engages in the production, processing, and packaging of various agricultural commodities such as grains, rice, pulses, and edible oil. The incident in Abuja unfolded around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, shortly after a group of individuals attacked a warehouse owned by the Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat of the FCT Administration in the Dei-Dei area of the capital.
Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, verified the looting of the Dei-Dei warehouse and assured that the situation had been brought under control.
The Nigerian Army corroborated the thwarted assault on a private warehouse in the Idu Industrial area of the FCT by criminals, confirming the arrest of five suspects.
