Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has accused Governor Uba Sani of being connected to the alleged abduction of Jafaru Sani, a former commissioner in his administration.

El-Rufai made the claim in a statement on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, alleging that Jafaru Sani was taken into custody on Wednesday by individuals posing as police officers. He further claimed that Sani was remanded in prison by a magistrate without formal charges or a First Information Report (FIR) from the Kaduna State Ministry of Justice.

According to El-Rufai, Sani is now facing money laundering charges—an offense he argues falls under federal jurisdiction and not within the Kaduna State Judiciary or Police. He suggested the arrest was politically motivated, linking it to Sani’s defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

El-Rufai also referenced a similar case involving Bashir Saidu, another former official, who he claimed was detained for 50 days before being granted bail. He accused some magistrates and judges in Kaduna of being compromised and warned that those responsible would be held accountable.
