A new political party, the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) was on Monday, officially unveiled in Nigeria.

The unveiling ceremony held at the Reiz Continental Hotel, central Area, Abuja was chaired by Chief Dan Ayanwu, a former National Chairman of the Labour Party, on behalf of the National Executive Committee of the party.

The party, through its Interim National Chairman, Mohammed Shittu Kabiru said the party, whose slogan is ‘Stronger Together’, stands for an inclusive Nigerian society based on the principles of freedom, equality, solidarity, diversity and fairness.

While fielding questions from journalists and observers, Mr. Kabiru, a former national chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council, revealed that the party plans to introduce electronic registration and voting systems and give twenty five percent allocation to youth, both aimed at sanitizing electoral process.

He further revealed that the party, if voted into office, will run a mixed economy where the private sector is encouraged to participate in the revamping of all moribund industries in the country and improve the nation’s economy.

Apart from Katsina and Kebbi, 34 state co-ordinators of the party were on hand to receive the party’s flags from the National Chairman.

Among the dignitaries present at the ceremony were Chief Raymond Dokpesi, the founder of DAAR Communications, owners of African Independent Television (AIT) who is also a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain.
