Popular Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia also known as Tuface appears to have greatly lifted the morale of soldiers and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) located in Borno state with his music.
Tuface toured camps in Ngala, Bakassi and Maiduguri where he performed some of his popular songs to the thrill and admiration of the IDPs and soldiers who interacted with him freely in the process.
The tour which was organiSed in partnership with the United Nations refugee agency UNHCR, followed the music icon’s visit to an IDP camp last year where he promised to donate 60 percent of the proceeds of his new song, ‘Hold My Hand’ to IDPs through UNHCR.
This gesture by the “African Queen” singer who first partnered with UNHCR last year and made his first donation of over $11,000 in February this year through his Tuface Foundation, makes it the first by any celebrity in Nigeria.
“For me, my voice and how I use it would be my own little way of contributing. And I invite all well-meaning Nigerians to do same,” Tuface told journalists.
He also lauded Nigerian soldiers stationed at the camps for the enormous work they are doing and urged every patriotic Nigerian to give them all the support they need.
Cesar Tsav, the UNHCR Head of Missions in Borno State told the media that the successful partnership with Tuface was expected to yield more positive results in the future.
