The pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere had said that it would no longer tolerate the excesses of Fulani herdsmen in the south western part of the country.
The National Publicity Secretary of the group, Yinka Odumakin while reacting to Sunday’s burning of a farm belonging to former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae said the act was a continuation of the war which they had declared.
“It is a continuation of war by armed Fulani herdsmen, who have been terrorizing communities and are now burning farmlands. Now, they have gone to Falae’s farm. These people have made up their mind to go to war or have their way and the authority has refused to call them to order.
“The latest on Falae’s farm is clearly unacceptable, an aggression by the Fulani and they should be rest assured that the Yoruba nation will not take it lightly. If they think that with all these they are doing, they will have one inch of land for cattle colony in any part of Yorubaland, they should forget it.”
Suspected herdsmen had on Sunday stormed Falae’s farm located at Ilado, near Akure, the Ondo state capital at about 5:30pm and set it on fire, damaging crops worth millions of naira.
Confirming the incident, Falae’s Personal Assistant, Captain Raji (rtd) said the security operatives stationed at the farm noticed the fire and rushed to the scene only to find some Fulani herdsmen fleeing from the scene.
