The Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Police has dismissed four policemen for stealing and selling traditional attires and domestic property belonging to Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

The errant officers who stole six television sets, refrigerators, air-conditioners, traditional attires and designer suits from Jonathan’s Gwarimpa Estate residence which they were assigned to guide, were dismissed after they were found culpable in an orderly room trial.

According to a statement released by the FCT police spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, the dismissed officers are Sergeants Musa John, Gabriel Ugah, Ogah Audu and John Nanpak. He added that detectives were on the trail of one Mallam Shuaibu who allegedly bought the stolen items.

“In fulfillment of the promise of the FCT Police Command to make public its findings in the investigation of the case of theft at the Gwarimpa residence of former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the command wishes to state that in line with the first schedule of the Police Act and Regulation 370 Cap 19, the policemen guarding the house have been tried in orderly room proceedings and found culpable of the offence.

“Sequel to the outcome of the orderly room proceedings, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo, has approved the immediate dismissal of the policemen from the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement read.

The command also revealed that it intends to prosecute Sgt. Musa, the main suspect in the theft case in compliance with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police to rid the force of all criminal elements.
