National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described suggestions that there is rancour between him and the Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode as an insult.

Tinubu spoke in response to a question by TVC’s correspondent, Ayodele Ozumgbakun after he voted at Ikeja Ward C this Tuesday morning in the Lagos State governorship primaries. He said:

“I brought Ambode to the people. He was a civil servant under me and he performed well. When he began to show interest in politics, I brought him to the party.”

Referring to the governorship primaries in which the incumbent governor is contesting against another candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Tinubu said:

“I think it is a good thing that after a while, a governor should return to the people to test his acceptance. So, this process is okay.”

Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu had a hectic time making it through the crowd at the voting centre in Alausa. It was a situation which could have degenerated into a stampede by party enthusiasts and hordes of spectators who wanted to get close to the APC chieftain.

Significantly, while Sanwo-Olu’s banners were so visible at the scene, those belonging to Ambode virtually did not exist. Supporters of the governor’s opponent and some of the people who minded Tinubu’s security at the centre wore caps with Sanwo-Olu’s name boldly printed on them.
